Hard to believe we're already at the end of October. The World Series is in full swing (pivotal Game 5 tonight!), the new batch of Stranger Things is here (I'm still trying to finish Daredevil Season 2), and Thor:Ragnarok comes out next weekend (looks like a ton of fun, doesn't it?). I'm behind on almost everything as usual (except for a few TV shows, like  The Good Place and The Flash ), but I'll never stop trying to catch up (2 years behind on The Great Albums podcast and 1 year behind on Spontaneanation). I ran out of steam on my 2016 best-of lists and I don't feel like spending today writing them. I do need to do a better job of writing about things in the moment. For example, there were so many albums I loved last year that it would have been impossible to say things about most of them. I did try to write reviews for most of the books I read, but they were posted on my Goodreads account and then linked to my Facebook and Twitter. I'm sure I've said this at the beginning of many years and we'll see how well I do. As for the Sunday Shuffle, I don't know how much longer I'll continue it. #450 sounds like a nice place to stop if I decide to do so. Then again, #500 sounds even cooler. The problem is that my iTunes only represents a fraction of what I listen to in a given week. Maybe I bring back the Sunday Sculpt once or twice a month. Maybe I try to put together a new playlist every month as well. I guess I'll just have to see where I go with all of it. For...

I finished in the pool on Friday, started my classwork yesterday, and start school on Wednesday. The calendar says summer lasts for another month plus, but it is quickly coming to an end mentally. I'm gearing up to make this a great school year - my 9th at Central. I'll be student teaching starting in March, which will be here before I know it, I'm sure. I'm going to do my best to balance between school and school and swimming lessons and life, to try to not get bogged down in the work and stress about it. I know I won't be able to engage in pop culture as much as I'd like, but that's okay. I'll appreciate every book I do get to read or TV show I'm able to keep up with. The one good thing is that music is always able to be a constant. Don't know what I'd do without it. Anyway, I got a little rambly this morning and I apologize if I bored you. I hope Peyton Manning can win another Super Bowl today...but I have the feeling the Panthers are going to run away with it. I do hope it's a competitive game...sure, deviled eggs and tiny meatballs and crab dip and Yuengling is all well and good, but a boring game is no fun. I typically let shuffle mode run all Sunday long but I don't know how many more songs I'll hear today. There are 2 playoff games to watch. I also want to continue watching Parks & Recreation ; on Dec. 1, I decided to rewatch the series on Netflix so I would be ready for the final season. Well, the new season starts Tuesday and I only hit the halfway point last night. While I listen to a lot of music, these albums have been played quite a bit in the last three weeks or so... Alabama Shakes/Boys & Girls - The band was on SNL a few weeks back and not only ripped into "Hold On," the first and best song on this debut album, but also played a great new song. That's all it takes to send me back to an album and it's not like I hadn't already liked this last year - it just got a little lost in some of the other 2012 releases. These are good blues rock songs and Brittany Howard has a great voice. I do think their next album has a chance to be even better but this is well worth repeated listens, even beyond "Hold On."
