I seem to have settled into an every other week schedule for this feature, which is fine. I'm in the home stretch of my student teaching (tomorrow is day 35 of 50) and hoping to get an interview or two soon. There are only 4 weeks left of school and this upcoming week is the only one that's a full 5 days (although I will be gone two of those to Camp Tecumseh with the 5th graders...and yes, that's an overnight trip). Here I am at another anniversary-type number for the Sunday Shuffle. Hard to believe I've gotten up this high and that I've been doing this for over a decade. I've also been thinking I might get to here and then discontinue the shuffle, but now that I'm here...I at least want to hit 500, so I'll hang in for another year or so. I know a blog is such an old-fashioned thing at this point, but I am about to turn 46...you can draw your own conclusions. To celebrate, I am not only going to run for 20 songs today, but I've also changed the theme of my blog. I'd had the previous theme for a very long time and it felt like time for a change. It's currently a rainy early spring day (and I'm on spring break), so listening to some music and doing some reading sounds like the right thing to do. While my music listening continues to be more scattered than focused, I have digitally or physically spun two albums on a regular basis over the last few weeks. Read (and maybe listen too?) on... Death Cab For Cutie/Transatlanticism - This album came out 10 years ago and was recently reissued. Naturally, there was coverage about the reissue and that led to me picking it up once again. It was the first Death Cab album I bought and it remains my favorite (though I like all their albums...also,  Narrow Stairs is a strong second). Lines like "I wish the world was flat like the old days/Then I could travel just by folding the map/No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways/There'd be no distance that could hold us back" and "There's a tear in the fabric of your favorite dress/And I'm sneaking glances" are catnip to me and those are from the first two songs. I love the juxtaposition of the music and lyrics in "The Sound of Settling," where the...

I hope to get back to some non-shuffle content this week, though tomorrow is quite busy. We'll see. I can't believe I've done this 300 times stretching back over six years. I've given thought to changing things up a bit but I don't know that I could - it's such an ingrained part of my Sunday morning. So, we'll see what the future brings.
