It's been two weeks since the last shuffle and four weeks since the last regular edition of the shuffle, so it feels like it's time to get back to the usual routine. I haven't pulled up iTunes since before our 4th of July trip, so I decided to sync up my phone to make sure all of the play counts are updated before I started today. While I listen to a lot of music, these albums have been played quite a bit in the last three weeks or so... Alabama Shakes/Boys & Girls - The band was on SNL a few weeks back and not only ripped into "Hold On," the first and best song on this debut album, but also played a great new song. That's all it takes to send me back to an album and it's not like I hadn't already liked this last year - it just got a little lost in some of the other 2012 releases. These are good blues rock songs and Brittany Howard has a great voice. I do think their next album has a chance to be even better but this is well worth repeated listens, even beyond "Hold On." Atoms For Peace/Amok - This is the new band that features Thom Yorke (from Radiohead), Nigel Godrich (producer of Radiohead and other bands), Flea (bassist for Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Joey Waronker (drummer for a bunch of artists) but the sound is not much different than what you would expect a Y...

It's been a busy week even with the holiday on Monday. Yesterday I ran a 5 mile race for the first time (it was only my second race ever) and my son marched in the Popcorn Parade. We've had company for the last couple of days as well. This week I start teaching swimming lessons again in addition to being at the school every day. Today, however? Every Sunday morning I get up, open iTunes, and enter shuffle mode. The first ten songs that come up (not counting my wife's music - the stuff we share is fair game) are what constitute the Sunday Shuffle. There are still unplayed songs from our hard drive getting zapped early last year, so don't mind the songs with a "1."
