It's the Mother's Day edition of the Sunday Shuffle...which doesn't really change much of anything. We are going to see Captain America; Civil War in a little while and I have cleaning to do, so there will probably be a gap in the songs this morning. Not that you'll notice, but I thought I'd give you the inside baseball. I saw Bob Mould in concert at The Metro with my friend Scott on Friday night. It was a great show. We haven't seen the sun in a while here in NW Indiana; the last time I saw the sun was when we flew into Louisville on our first leg home from Baltimore Monday night. So, please, sun, come and visit! Speaking of Baltimore, we had a wonderful time not only at my cousin Lauren's wedding to Nick, but also throughout the whole weekend with all the family. A week ago today six of us walked out to Fell's Point, a really cool section of the city, and sat outside for brunch, shopped for records, ate ice cream, and more. We hung with the family at our great rental place in the afternoon and I finished off playing lots of euchre with my brother, cousin, and father. So much fun. Last night was prom, which went very well. I didn't get to bed until 2:00, but I got up and had a great 3 mile run this morning. Last week was a struggle, as I had to get back in the swing of schoolwork in addition to my two jobs. I definitely learned something, though, and I'm already doing better at the balance. It has been a busy couple of weeks, filled not only with a vacation but also Shakespeare in the park and a wedding down around Purdue, to name the bigger events. My music consumption has been a bit scattered over the past month plus but there are still some albums that I've played more than the rest... The Beatles/Please Please Me - Last year I set out to listen to and write about every Beatles album after I got the big stereo remastered box set for Christmas. I managed to write about the first two and then stopped. I recently thought about picking up that project again and started at the beginning of the catalog once again. I wrote about this album here but I'd also like to mention John's vocals on "Anna (Go To Him)" and reiterate my love for "Twist and Shout," especially the four-part "ah"s. Hard to believe it's almost 50 years old. Fleet Foxes/Helplessness Blues - I really liked the first album and not just for the gorgeous harmonies. This album feels more intimate and more expansive at the same time. The title track is the star of the show for me but I also love "Someone You'd Admire...
